Hello, since a few weeks back, perhaps a month, I don't get any notifications about app updates. I have checked all settings and can't find anything wrong. Cleared cache and data. Tried stop Google play app, even disable it but no luck. Any ideas that does not involve reinstall the phone?

Apps should auto update themselves. So decent chance it's just updating them for you

I've never actually had an update notification in maybe 5 years

If apps have gone into a 'Sleep' due to not being used, they won't update.
The setting for this is under Settings > Battery > Background Usage Limits.
An easy (and tedious) way to force an update for sleeping apps is to go through opening and closing every app on your phone, then go to Play Store and manually check for updates.

The only time I get a notification for an app update is when I open an app that as an update. Some seem to update in the background but I sometimes check on the play store for updates and gat a few. Last night I had 8 updates when I checked.

Not everyone wants auto update enabled as a lot of app updates break functionality.
So no they don't always auto update and speak about you stating the obvious," I've never had an update notification!(You know because I have auto update on!)"
